There’s good news in Hollywoodland: The Ugg era is officially dead. Those caftan-and-caffeine-addicted looks of Nicole Richie, Mischa Barton, Hilary Duff, et al. are fading from memory, and the latest wave of TV talent appears to be opting out of the indelible same-old, same-old of star stylists. Instead, they’re embracing ELLE’s favorite mantra: personal style. Bravo! We know that ditching the cookie cutter and going free-form takes chutzpah; if your every coffee run were photographed, how brave would you be? Still, we can’t help but wonder what would happen if these women were to go varsity, dialing up their sartorial IQs with edgy wares from the fashion front. After all, once you’ve landed a hit series, a tiny wardrobe tweak is sometimes all it takes to get on the fast track.
